Community Guidelines

Our Code of Conduct and Trust & Safety standards for all members

Our Commitment to Trust and Safety

At 29 Travel Club, we believe that trust is the foundation of our community. Our members open their homes to strangers and travel to unfamiliar places, which requires a shared commitment to respect, responsibility, and integrity. These Community Guidelines establish the standards of conduct that all members must follow to maintain the safety, security, and wellbeing of our community.

Violations of this Code of Conduct breach the trust within the 29 Travel Club network and can cause others distress, inconvenience, and frustration—even if the violation doesn't result in significant property damage or health and safety risks.

Examples of Code of Conduct Violations

Guest Violations

  • Not following the Home Guide instructions or house rules provided by the host
  • Failing to maintain the home in the condition it was received
  • Not disclosing accidental damage to the host or 29 Travel Club, even if honest
  • Missing check-out time without prior communication with the host
  • Failing to lock doors, secure keys, or leave the home properly secured
  • Not communicating with the host when important information is needed
  • Bringing unauthorized guests or subletting the property without permission
  • Smoking, using drugs, or engaging in illegal activities on the property
  • Violating the 29-day stay duration by extending without formal approval

Host Violations

  • Not adequately preparing the home according to 29 Travel Club standards (clean, functional, safe)
  • Misrepresenting home details, amenities, or condition in the listing
  • Repeatedly adding or removing availability that doesn't reflect actual availability
  • Failing to disclose known issues, repairs needed, or property limitations
  • Not providing clear house rules or emergency contact information
  • Entering the home without permission during a guest's stay
  • Charging unauthorized fees or attempting to collect payment outside the platform
  • Violating guest privacy or safety

What Happens When There's an Alleged Violation?

Investigation Process

When a member reports a potential Code of Conduct violation, 29 Travel Club files the complaint in a confidential Incident Report. Our Trust and Safety team will investigate the report and, if necessary, contact relevant community members to gather information about the incident.

  • Accounts may be paused during investigation
  • We maintain strict confidentiality
  • We gather information from all parties
  • We review all evidence and documentation

Honest Mistakes vs. Patterns

We understand that honest mistakes happen. A single honest mistake—such as accidentally damaging a lamp or oversleeping on check-out day—is typically not grounds for removal from 29 Travel Club. However, honest mistakes become concerning when they form a pattern of behavior or when a single violation is particularly serious, egregious, or dangerous.

Repeated Incident Reports

If two (2) Incident Reports are filed regarding one member, our Trust and Safety team will perform a comprehensive evaluation of that member's conduct to determine if there is a pattern of violations.

If a pattern is found: membership revoked, all credits canceled, and access removed immediately.

Major Code of Conduct Violations

"Major" violations are particularly serious and are defined as those that meet one or more of the following criteria:

Endanger Health, Safety, or Security

Could reasonably be expected to endanger the health, safety, or security of any 29 Travel Club members, guests, neighbors, or personal property, whether through intentional action, negligence, or recklessness.

Involve Illegal Activity

Include theft of any kind, illegal drug use, fraud, or any other unlawful behavior on or related to the property.

Involve Dishonesty or Deception

Include lying, withholding, or misrepresenting important information to the 29 Travel Club team or fellow members. This includes failing to report property damage, hiding incidents, misrepresenting identity, or providing false information during an investigation.

Involve Harassment or Discrimination

Include any aggressive, threatening, harassing, pejorative, or discriminatory behavior toward any member, guest, or vendor—whether verbal, written, or physical.

Violate Privacy or Security Terms

Include unauthorized recording (audio or video), copying keys, sharing home access with others, or using 29 Travel Club content in fraudulent, misleading, or unauthorized ways.

Consequences of Major Violations

Any Major Violation results in immediate account suspension until our Trust and Safety team completes an investigation.

While suspended, members may not:

  • Stay in any 29 Travel Club properties
  • Book any new stays
  • Earn or use credits
  • Host any guests in their home

If investigation confirms a Major Violation:

  • Membership revoked immediately
  • All booked trips and credits canceled without appeal
  • Access to 29 Travel Club revoked immediately
  • Details remain confidential to protect all parties

All reports are treated confidentially and investigated promptly.

Our Commitment to Fairness

We will always:

  • Investigate reports promptly and thoroughly
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout
  • Notify members of outcomes via email
  • Provide clear explanations for actions

We will not tolerate:

  • Retaliation against reporting members
  • False or malicious reports
  • Intimidation during investigations
  • Pressure on members to withdraw reports
